Who this is for
This guide is for Navgar users who want to better understand how Projects work, how to create and manage them, and how to make use of project-specific features such as privacy settings, archives, and roles.
Real world scenarios
You’re setting up a new initiative and need to create a project quickly within Navgar.
A team member can’t be assigned tasks, and you need to troubleshoot why.
You need to adjust project privacy or remove members while ensuring tasks remain intact.
Your project is complete and you want to archive it without losing the work history.
You’re managing permissions and need to know the difference between Admin and Non-Admin roles.
How to: Project Management in Navgar
Creating a Project
From anywhere in the Navgar application:
Go to the internal Command Bar.
Option 1: Use the dropdown and select Projects
Option 2: Type .P (period + P) to set the bar to Project mode.
Enter your Project name and press Enter.
A setup window will appear where you can:
Edit the project name
Provide a description
Set the project's members and their permissions level - the default is private (only to you). You may add individuals or teams (up to and including your entire organization - this should appear as the top option in the dropdown menu).
Customize the friendly codes for tasks created in the project (e.g. FAC-2854)
Add organization teams and members
Click Next and add the tasks that will make up the project.
Assigning Tasks to Team Members
If you can’t assign a task to a person, the most likely reason is they are not yet a member of the project.
✅ Add them to the project, and you’ll be able to assign them tasks.
Editing Project Members
You can add, remove, or edit project permissions from your project by clicking on the triple dot menu on the far right of the project panel
Notes:
Removing a member will also remove their access to the project.
Tasks assigned to them will stay assigned but no longer be tied to the project.
Deleting vs. Archiving Projects
Deleting a project: Removes the project but tasks remain assigned to their owners.
Archiving a project: Keeps everything intact but moves it out of the active workspace.
Project Archive Function
The Archive function helps you tidy up your workspace while keeping completed projects accessible.
Key points:
Archive from the ellipse menu beside the project.
View or restore projects from the Archived tab.
Archived projects:
Keep the same privacy permissions.
Move their tasks along with them.
Keep task states (open, completed, snoozed).
Cannot be edited unless unarchived.
Can be deleted if no longer needed.
Chats linked to archived projects remain active for 2 weeks, then auto-archive.
Project Roles: Admin vs. Non-Admin
Project Admins: Can add or remove members (including other admins).
Project Non-Admins: Cannot manage membership.
Any project member (Admin or Non-Admin) can delete tasks within the project.
